Oslo 31 July 2018
In the morning, we took a cruise along the Oslo fjord; it lasted a couple of hours, and I was able to get some interesting pictures.
Exterior of the opera house
This is known as the “bar code” building.
This is a lighthouse, still in use.
This oddly symmetrical ship caught our attention.
Bonus picture from the Rådhus
Mathallen Vulkan
We went to a medium-sizedd food hall in the Vulkan area of Oslo. Nicely laid out, excellent place for lunch when the weather is good.
This is from the church at St. Olavsgate.
National Museum
A small museum, but well curated. It has a fairly large collection of works by Edvard Munch, including The Scream, whose name in Norwegian is Skrik, pronounced “Shriek.”
The text in the middle top is “Let whoever is without sin cast the first stone.”
This is the grossest, most perverted painting I have seen in a long while.
A couple of panoramic views...
...of one of the galleries.
The painter (Krohg), painted a lot of sick children. Go figure.
Some close-up brushwork
Had to have at least one of these.
The Dance of Life by Munch
Moonlight, also by Munch
Signage
Clever use of knife and fork in the word “billig” (inexpensive)
