Prague–June 18, 2026

The first part of the day consisted of going to a monastery. I honestly do not remember its name, or much about it at all, but, as the saying goes, “pictures or it didn’t happen.”

Seen in the window of a store.

Sculpture above door of people feeding animals.
TRDELNÍK Traditional Czech spit cake

No, it is not made of spit. It is baked on a spit. This is also called “chimney cake”, and is supposed to be incredibly delicious. I thought it was somewhat overrated.

Fountain with two intertwined fish, their tails in the airs, spouting water out their mouths
Two standing women on either side of a window

Prague Jewish Quarter

Wow, was it crowded here. Even though we didn’t want to see all the bulidings, you had to buy a package ticket. We started off at the old synagogue and proceed to the Jewish Cemetery.

Headstones tilted at various angles.
Badly weathered headstone with house-shaped section at top
Hedstone with Hebrew carving that is still readable

From there, we went to the Spanish Synagogue. It was much more impressive than the old synagogue, and showed signs of being influenced by the local culture.

Nutria

Nutria are an invasive species of rodent. There are some of them living in the river, and, despite signs telling people not to feed them, people continue to do so. I even saw some people petting them. This is incredibly foolish, as nutria can bite, and they also carry all manner of unpleasant diseases. They are cute, though, which works in their favor.

Miscellanea

Photos that didn’t fit anywhere else.

One rarely sees the supporting rods for statues on roofs, but it makes sense to have them.
