Storm King / Airplane Flight–10 June 2015
Storm King Art Center
Well, I thought I wouldn’t get any pictures today, but my friend and I went to the Storm King Art Center near the airport that I was leaving from. They have a large collection of sculpture, so it was well worth the side trip.
As we approached the main museum, we saw this sculpture: Pink Ladies (2014) by Lynda Benglis, whose work was featured as a special exhibition. She also had other work on display. It was interesting, but not what I would call beautiful.
Here is a shot of part of the roof of the building; the curvy triangular part is something I’ve never seen before.
This is the piece that appealed to me the most as a first impression.
And now, a whole lot of sculpture picures.
There was one piece that was still under construction. As we left, we saw another part of it. We suspect that it may have been created from wood from the art center grounds.
Airplane Flight
The plane from Stewart Airport to Philadelphia was a turbo-prop plane. A couple of the passengers were amazed that such things still existed and were in use. Since it was a fairly low-flying plane, I was able to get some relatively nice pictures from the plane window. The picture showing the motionless propeller was taken with a shutter speed of 1/4000 second.
