Kingston, NY–9 June 2015
In the morning, we went to downtown Kingston to have breakfast at Outdated: An Antique Café.
Here is some of the wall art around town.
Other things around town.
Here are pictures of the old Senate building (Kingston was at one time the New York state capital).
And the Old Dutch Church and its cemetery.
Olana
We then went to Olana, a Frederick Church’s home. His very spectacular home on some 500 acres. He certainly did not have a problem with modesty; a quote on a plaque says “About an hour this side of Albany is the center of the world–and I own it.”
Here are pictures of details of the main house and some views from the grounds.
Hudson
On to the city of Hudson.
Animalkind
Animalkind is a feral/stray cat rescue organization. They were closed, but I did get one good picture through the window.
Then again...
Of course, it’s not all peaches and cream. Here are a few pictures of a condemned building.
Kingston
Back to Kingston, and a trip up Chestnut Street, which has all sorts of interesting architecture. And a pair of adorable little dogs.
Signage
The red goat is an unofficial symbol of Kingston.
Who the heck is the marketing genius who came up with this name for insulating material?
And other signs...
