Brussels – 30 January 2015
Decided to do a bit of tourism in the morning. Here’s a hallway connecting the subway station to the main train station.
I headed toward the Grand Place (Grote Markt), and got a view from behind this statue of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza.
These statues are of Bela Bartok and Charles Bruls (former burgemeister of Brussels).
And, at last, the Grand Place.
Headed away from the Grand Place to find the Comic Strip Center, I saw one building with a rather strange outer framework and another building with Tintin, Milou, and Captain Haddock painted on the side, and yet another cartoon. The woman who is slaying the monster is asking “You aren’t going to help me?” and the man responds, “Whoa, a couple of minutes, darling.”
More pictures on the way to the Comic Strip Center
And a few shots from inside the museum. The last picture is from an exhibit of Brussels as seen in grahic novels. It shows Louizaplein, the area where I am staying.
I spent the afternoon helping the people at FOSDEM set up for the conference. Mostly I helped make and post direction signs. Here are some of the other people who were there.
Signage
Just one today, from a water company.
