Today was my day to go out to the end of one of the subway lines; in this case, the Bukit Panjang station on the Downtown line. There was a nearby Hindu temple (Sri Murugan Hill Temple):
Here are a few pictures from a housing block near Bukit Panjang. Frankly, it’s a bit boring; it’s sort of a residential area without any character.
Botanic Garden
A friend told me I should have gone to the National Botanic Garden instead of Gardens by the Bay. I was really not keen on seeing another garden, but decided why not.
The National Orchid Garden is on the grounds; it cost about S$3 to see it. It is chock-a-block with tourists, stopping every ten paces to take selfies. Of course, I shouldn’t complain, as I got a person from France to take my picture. (And I took one of him and his wife.)
I’m not sure which of these flowers are orchids.
The direction signs are very good, as they also show the distance. There’s a lot of sculpture in the garden as well.
Miscellanea
Art is where you find it; here was a steel plate that had a sticker on it at one time; the remains of the sticker looked pretty good.

:Food
Sometimes you can see things at “typical American“ fast food outlets that would never be on the menu in the US. For example, Subway had a tandoori chicken sandwich (couldn’t get a good picture of the poster), and KFC has waffles:
