The Royal Ontario Museum
Not too many pictures today; I guess I just wasn’t feeling it for the Royal Ontario Museum. It felt a bit stodgy, and I had gone to the American Museum of Natural History in New York a couple of months ago, and this was pretty much more of the same.
This dinosaur at the entrance is a 3-D printed replica, according to one of the people working at the museum.
The section devoted to China, Korea, and Japan is near the entrance on the first floor:
Also on the first floor is an exhibit devoted to the First Peoples (indigenous people). I thought it was terribly disappointing. It was dimly lit and seemed utterly lifeless. Maybe it’s done that way to be respectful of the culture, but it didn’t work for me.
I pretty much skipped over Egypt, Greece, and Rome. I’m just so done with them. But here are a couple of pictures for those of you who aren’t.
One exhibit, about the evolution of style, was interesting. Again, though, it seemed dimly lit and not particularly striking.
Elsewhere in the museum, a small display of Judaica:
This exhibit of glassware was excellent.
And now, a totem pole for your viewing pleasure.
I skipped over the whole section of taxidermied mammals. There was an exhibit devoted to sea life, but I was a bit tired of it all and didn’t get any pictures from that section either.
Yes, they also have a hall of minerals (“Earth’s Treasures”), and I got a few pictures from there also.
