Not much to report today. I took the bus out to Ikea to get some housewares. The “find of the day” was this multi-armed hanger for socks & underwear.

Why do I need this? Because I have a washer, but no dryer; just a laundry rack. The custom here is to air-dry things. (There was a similar multi-clip hanger in the closet, but when I tried to open the clips, they broke.)

Green plastic “octopus” with eight arms, each having two clips for hanging clothes to dry.

Here is some other houseware I’ve bought. The cleverest ones are the colander (it collapses for easy storage) and the baking pan, which, though you can’t see it in the picture, is adjustable. You can set the length to whatever best fits the oven and/or whatever you are cooking. I rarely buy housewares, and this was the first I had heard of such a thing. It’s not quite Nobel-Prize clever, but very close.

The dish brush has a section to hold dish soap (this, at least, I was familiar with). The jar opener is nice to have in case I encounter a jar that I can’t open easily.

And finally, a shower caddy. There was no place in the shower to put soap and shampoo, so this was a necessity. It attaches by suction cup, so it is easily removable.

Yes, I know. None of this is remotely exciting to you. But for me, this was a big adventure, and it does make the apartment feel more like a home.
