Paris–January 10, 2023

Got in to Paris this morning. I didn’t get much sleep on the flight, but did see a great movie: Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was really good and very funny. If you have ever seen Kung Fu Hustle, it definitely has that vibe. Great cast, with Michelle Yeoh, James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis (whom I did not even recognize until I saw her name in the credits).

I walked around the hotel area for a while in the afternoon and got a (very) few pictures. The first one is the restaurant where I finally ended up getting a very late lunch.

Bookstore: Arcane Livres

I am not sure how arcane the books are, but it is an interesting name.

Flower shop with outdoor display of flowers and other plants.

There are a lot of fruit/small grocery stores in the area, and one or two flower shops.

“Auto Passion” restaurant; in front is a red gasoline pump that shows the restaurant menu. The gas pump in front of the Auto Passion restaurant is a clever touch.
8-bit resolution cartoon character on wall; at bottom of pictureis street sign for Boulevard Brune.

Almost missed this one

Arrow-shaped signs on street pointing in several different directions.

This is why I would never want to drive in Paris.

evas delight

This one is for one of my friends who knows someone named Eva. The name of the cake is “Eva’s Delight”

I went to a couple of supermarkets to get dessert. The Lidl store really was not well stocked and didn’t have anything I liked. However, the Franprix had an amazing selection. I got some raspberry yogurt, chocolate fondant cake, and a mint chocolate bar (no, I didn’t finish either one of them today).

Red light showing man with outstretched arms and word STOP. Sign says “red blinking stop obligatory. Priority to tramway”

Can’t believe they need a sign to tell people not to cross in front of a tram.

Sign: Optical Blink; at left is a three-d pair of glasses at right angles to the sign.
