Las Vegas–30 Dec 2014

Although downtown Las Vegas doesn’t have the glitz or sheer energy that the Strip has, it does have a great deal of good street art. Much of it is painted on walls of buildings; some is in the form of stickers on utility boxes.

While I was taking some of these pictures, I saw another person who turned out to be doing a photo shoot. We exchanged information, and I may contact him to see if it’s OK to link to his photos.

Emergency Arts

The last two pictures above are from the Emergency Arts building. Inside it are several galleries and design studios.

Miscellanea

The first picture shows the second floor of the Container Park; people can look out through the cut-outs of the words, providing a great photo opportunity for their friends at the ground level. The second picture is a mechanical wolf-like creature. The sign below it reads “The best safety device is fear.”

Old Motels

A lot of the old motels on Fremont Street are being torn down; the first picture shows the sign for the Pair-a-Dice motel standing guard over the empty lot where the motel once stood. The other pictures show the truly brilliant way that the Gables Motel was boarded up—it sure beats ugly slabs of unadorned plywood.

Bus Stop Art

Here are pictures from some of the bus stops along Boulder Highway.
