Munich–January 29, 2017
Today’s first museum was the Haus der Kunst; along the way there I went down Ludwigstrasse, named after King Ludwig I, who was quite the king, apparently.

Between this museum and the next is the Eisbach, which contains a river wave for experienced surfers only. Here’s my video of it. It was fairly cold that day (about 3° C, maybe), so it was fairly amazing to see people out there surfing. The bridge over the river is a place for people to put their romantic padlocks:

The Bavaria National Museum was my next stop. There was the standard amount of religious art and overdone (to my eyes) kitsch:
They had a display of musical instruments; the square one is called a bassetthorn, which is some sort of clarinet.
In the basement was a display of “krippe,” which are usually large dioramas of nativity scenes.
