I got to Reno at about 2 PM and checked into the hotel, the Silver Legacy. Here is the view from the 22nd floor window.
I took a picture of the famous Reno sign. The first picture was taken in the afternoon; the rest were taken later in the evening, when the effect is glitzier.
I was wandering around in search of a place to buy a map of the city, and came across this house, which, according to the web, was built in 1912 and now houses a bar.
Apparently, at one time, Reno had a “paint your piano” competition. Here are two entries.
During my search for a map (yes, I finally found one), I got down to the river, where a good time was being had by all.
This very clever (and colorful) bike rack was near the river.
Here are some pictures of an art installation named “Dual Nature” as well as a painted building across the river from the installation.
This is a statue in front of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
Here’s a very clever sculpture in the form of poker chips.
And finally, it’s creepy picture time. The first one is for a shaver shop near the hotel. The second one is an advertisement plastered on the side of Harrah’s. It doesn’t look so bad until you look closely at the woman in the center. She is probably thinking, “If the photographer tells me to smile one more time, I swear my face will break.”
