Graz–Feb. 21, 2025

Not much new today. Went out to get some things, and bought this:

The word for “food” in German is usually Essen, but when you are feeding an animal, the word for food is Futter. So this translates to something like “Student Chow”

Package of mixed nuts and fruit

Here’s the verb for feeding animals (füttern) on this sign telling people not to fead the pigeons; it’s prohibited by law in the city of Graz.

Picture of person's hand giving food to pigeon. Main text: Tauben bitte nicht füttern!

And finally, I was in the streetcar, happened to look up, and saw this car number. In some parts of the South in the US, people would refuse to get on the car or would be horrified if they did so by accident.

Old joke:
666 is the number of the Beast.
667 is the number of the Beast’s next-door neighbor.
