Still in Paris; my companion’s recovery is not going as quickly as we had hoped. Here are pictures from the Eiffel Tower area. I got off at the Invalides stop, near the Hôtel des Invalides.
I then walked along the Quai d´Orsay and Quai Branly toward the Eiffel tower.
I walked past the Musée du Quai Branly (has international art) and saw the colored shadow cast by one of the glass squares that line the sidewalk.
Finally, I got to the Eiffel Tower. Here are your standard tourist shots.
I was not surprised to see a bust of Gustav Eiffel, but I was surprised to see a small lake near the tower.
There were a couple of dozen street vendors selling trinkets at the base of the tower. As I left to go across the Seine to the Trocadéro station, I heard a loud jingling noise. I turned around to see all the vendors fleeing, with police on bicycles in hot pursuit.
Across the river from the Eiffel Tower is the Palais de Chaillot, which houses the Musée de l´Homme, Musée Nationale de la Marine, and the Theâtre Nationale de Chaillot.
