Toronto–August 13, 2022

Not too many pictures from today; it was my last day in Toronto, and I was also getting a bit tired.

Chinatown

I started out the day in Chinatown. I saw this design again. I still have no idea what it is, so if anyone with a knowledge of Toronto can help out, let me know.

floral design

Lots of wall art here as well.

Kensington Market

I then got to the Kensington Market area, which has a lot of small restaurants, arts stores, and far too many wall paintings for me to get pictures of. Here are just a very few of them. The first few are from the Chinatown area, but they fit here better.

grinning man

This one is a Chilean comic book character named Condorito, one of whose catch phrases is “¡Exijo una explicación!” (I demand an explanation!). The comic strip has been around for ages, and I followed it for a time, though, to be honest, a lot of the jokes were incredibly sexist.

OK, back to more wall art.

Miscellaneous

I walked over to the Church and Wellesley area of Toronto (the gay district; they were having a small fair with people selling vaious cosmetics, jewelry, etc.)

abstract metal sculpture
red blue ninja Happy ninjas.

These are from the front of a branch of the Toronto Public Library.

And more stuff...

Signage

hey noodles logo
chinese triditional buns Today’s spelling error
danger due to control Someone doesn’t quite have their spray paint technique mastered.
croissant tree sign

Toronto really does a good job with wayfinding. Here’s an example of one of the signs. The bottom half shows the immeidate area; the circle shows a 5-minute walk from the current location. The upper half shows a larger area with a 15-minute walk. In both cases, the map is oriented with the direction you are facing at the top. This is incredibly useful for people like me who can’t rotate a “north is always at the top“ map in their head.
