Las Vegas 2012 - 14 August

I went downtown to the Mob Museum. It was fairly interesting, and there was one room where you get to be in a lineup and the staff will take a picture for you. Best trivia: one of the rooms in the building is the same room where the Kefauver hearings were held.

Afterward, I went to Uncle Joe’s Pizza downtown. The prices are reasonable and the pizza is decent. Then, I headed to Mermaid’s casino for some deep-fried Oreos. (Yes, I know, it sounds awful. But I like them.)

It turns out that Rep. Paul Ryan was going to be speaking at a high school in west Las Vegas later in the afternoon, and I started riding out there, but after a half hour, I figured I was still about 8 miles away, and would have had to ride 20 miles back to where I was staying. This didn’t seem like a good idea in 100+°F heat, so I went instead to the Venetian hotel and looked at the shops. Here are a couple of views of the Palazzo (which is attached to the Venetian).
