03 Jun 06

Today is going to be short on narrative, and not that many pictures either. Some days everything clicks, some days it doesn’t.

I spent the day with a fellow whom I’d met online; he is visiting Seoul from Japan. We met near Gwanghwamun station. These photos are from near the station exit; all of them are clustered together in one corner of the station.

Seoul History Museum

This museum is a dud. Even at ₩700, it’s overpriced. Lots of old books and static displays. The only thing that was halfway decent was a film showing how Seoul had grown from 1394 to 2002; it was a satellite photo with roads overlaid on it.

Geyong-hui-gong

Behind the museum is a palace; here are some pictures from there:

Rest of the Day

We went to a pizza joint (very expensive), then went to TechnoMart and shopped around but didn’t buy anything. The place was pretty much empty, and they had at least three floors with people all selling exactly the same stuff. Apparently, I am not the only person to have noticed this.

Later in the evening we went to a Korean barbecue place; we had pork in hot sauce. You put it and some rice on a large cabbage or lettuce leaf and pop it into your mouth all at once. It was very good.
