Your First Word
This word, , is the Greek word for “well”, as in “I’m doing well.” In fact, this is the word you say when someone asks “How are you?”
You’ll notice there’s an accent mark over the second . This tells us that the last syllable gets the emphasis. This isn’t just something we've put into this lesson to help you; when you read a Greek newspaper or book, you'll see that all the words with more than one syllable have accent marks on them.
