21 Aug 2009

So, what happened to 20 August? My traveling companion fell ill; every time she stood up she would feel faint. Long story short: she is currently in the hospital. It turned out to be a stomach lesion that was bleeding. The doctors stopped the bleeding, so she will be OK.

As you can imagine, I was rather preoccupied those two days, so I did not get an opportunity to get any photos. On Friday, I had some time in the morning, and with nothing else that I could effectively do, I decided to go for a walk in Paris. Since I was still distracted, these pictures aren’t particularly inspired. Oh well. Pictures have captions; just hover over them. The first few pictures are from the area at the Champs-Élysées/Clemenceau station.

All right. Everyone and his brother and sister and second cousin twice removed has taken pictures of the Arc de Triomphe. Here are mine, taken as I walked up the Champs-Élysées. There’s one view of the Eiffel Tower.

From the Charles de Gaulle/Étoile station, I walked back along the Boulevard de Courcelles to the Place de Clichy station. Along the way is the Parc Monceau.

Here are other pictures on the way back to the metro stop.

After dinner in the evening, I headed on back to the hotel and saw a black cat lazing on a windowsill.

I’m hoping we get to leave Paris soon, so there probably will not be much opportunity for further pictures.
